You know, throw out anything that doesn’t “spark joy”. Her new show on Netflix covers her quirky ‘tidying up’ system. Well, apparently women in New York ARE and the thrift stores are brimming with fresh cast-offs (some with the tags still on). But the real winners are those who are willing to take the time to SHOP in those thrift stores. Who knows what gems might be there that were tossed in a fit of kondoing?
So if this is happening in New York, what about here in Houston? Maybe this weekend is the time to go thrifting. January is always the biggest month for The Container Store as New Year’s Resolutions kick in and we’re determined to ‘get organized’.
Oh, and did you know that ‘resale’ (yes, also known as thrift) is one of THE fastest growing markets segments in fashion? And surprisingly, many of these clothes are worn 3 times or less before being discarded. Not everyone can afford full-price retail – and thrifting offers a sense of adventure that the mall doesn’t! Who knows what you’ll find for just a few dollars? Look for the labels that you love and quality fabrics that really work. And, with rodeo coming up, maybe you can snatch a vintage shirt or boots now!
